Railways for the many

By 3rd January 2019 No Comments

For many people, today is the first day back to work in 2019.

Unfortunately, we see another train fare increase of over 3%.

The train is one of the most efficient and low-carbon ways of getting to work – much more so than driving. But its far too expensive for many people to travel by rail.

Since 2010 we’ve seen the price of a season ticket from Gloucester to Cheltenham increase by more than 40%. And that – combined with the fact that the South West is the second worst region for investment in railways – means we need a change now.

Labour will bring the trains back into public ownership, making sure that they work for the many, and not the few.
